Becky's artwork:

Forever inspired by nature, Becky's landscapes are created from the need to hold on to the feelings of joy, hope and being connected to the sense of divine presence , that she experiences during her early morning walks with her dog.  She finds she needs this to keep a healthy perspective during busy times.

Each piece starts with an idea of what to share with others, for example - "When you see the rays of sun coming down through the clouds, you are reminded that God is always communicating with us directly." or "These sheep remind us that everything is provided and our needs are met, just be open to faith and see!"

The work is hung in Becky's studio where she can view it and consider adding more details, and symbols such as leaves, birds, deer or even patterns of love hearts which are often noticed by her when out walking.  A mix of different media is often used, adding texture and depth to each piece.

I BELIEVE GOOD CAN BE FOUND IN EVEN THE TOUGHEST SITUATIONS.

Becky's story:

When I trained in Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) in 2017 and went through healing from trauma and self doubt, I found myself painting again just for me, after an absence for almost 30 years.

I had gone to Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design at the tender age of eighteen, but I struggled deeply with a sense of not being good enough, and of feeling lost amongst so many other talented young artists that I fell off the rails, and only just completed the course. I dabbled in a few projects, then retrained to be a Registered Nurse when I was 27. Even then I struggled with not feeling good enough and that continued in both professional life and personal life. It was only when I found myself divorced with 3 children and expecting a fourth, and hit rock bottom, did I look for a better future for myself and my children. Through self help books and online searching I discovered Marisa Peer, and her amazing form of hypnotherapy. The training, the sessions swapped with other graduates, and the process of helping my clients transformed the way I felt and the way I am now.

As I learnt to let go of my concern of others' judgement of me, I freed myself to explore what really makes me happy, what fills me with peace, joy and a sense of harmony with the world in the present moment. Over the next three years my little paintings took a life of their own. I could see I have so much to share with others that also need more joy and beauty inspired by natures glory.

Encouragement came from unexpected places such as one of my therapy clients, who sent me a gift of paintbrushes to thank me for freeing her of her own past trauma. And then one of my paintings of a cat sold in a local art show. A commission came from a home care client to paint her dogs. She appreciated the vibrance that I gave not just to them but also the impressionist garden background capturing some of her favourite colours.

I started to struggle to get the balance of promoting my therapy business, raising my four children alone, and finding time to so something so important for me, for my own health. At the start of 2020 I began to imagine what it would be like as a full time artist.

Since then my work has gone from strength to strength, getting involved with exhibiting in international art exhibitions in Milan, local Christmas fairs, and permanent space in the Cygnet gallery in Shaftesbury, close to me - as well as providing therapeutic art workshops at the Blandford Arts Hub.  I am currently finishing up a series all about the feeling of the dawn birdsong chorus.
